Year 9 Youth Development Caving Excursion

Mrs Buckland’s Year 9 Youth Development Outdoor Focus class participated in the exciting adventure of negotiating Labertouche Caves. The students walked 20mins to get to the cave entrance where they were lowered down a 5m drop. It is a horizontal cave approximately 1.5km long with many granite boulders to be negotiated as well as the underground stream. Adventure caving is a great way to see the earth from a totally different perspective. It is excellent fun needing cooperation and team work to manoeuvre through the complex cave system with reflector markers to help guide the way. Everyone got very muddy and wet and we were happy to walk out the exit and back through the bush to the bus.
