Dear Families
A big shout out to all of Year 3-6 students who competed in our Swimming Sports yesterday at YAWA. Many of the staff and family members who were present highlighted our students positive and 'give it a go' attitude and the encouragement they gave to each other - their sportsmanship was a pure delight to witness! Thank to those family members who could assist and as well to those who were able to come and cheer on our swimmers.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
Beginning of Year Mass
Last Friday we celebrated our Beginning of Year Mass together. It was a wonderful way to welcome each of us to the 2023 school year, highlight our theme 'Growing with God's Love' and continue to deepen our relationship with God. We were led reverently by our Year 6 Leaders, who were also presented with their leadership badges.
Canteen
This year we are partnering with the canteen service Stir Crazy Kids, who provide their service to numerous schools in our region. Tomorrow I will be meeting with Donna to finalise a few matters and lock in a commencement day. Friday will continue to be our canteen day. Thank you to Catherine Carroll for sourcing this service. See below for website link.
Every day counts – school attendance
We all want our students to get a great education, and the building blocks for a great education begin with students coming to school each and every day. Missing school can have a major impact on a child’s future – a student missing one day a fortnight will miss four full weeks by the end of the year. By Year 10 they’ll have missed more than a year of school. There is no safe number of days for missing school – each day a student misses puts them behind, and can affect their educational outcomes.
Coming to school every day is vital, but if for any reason your child must miss school, there are things we can do together. If you’re having attendance issues with your child, please let your classroom teacher know so we can work together to get your child to school every day.
Fundraiser for Turkey-Syria Earthquake
Thank you to all the families that were able to contribute to our fundraiser on Monday. We raised a generous $636. Thank you to Mel Semple for reaching out and proposing the idea. Our collective donations matter.
Random Acts of Kindness day
Tomorrow, February 17th, is Random Acts Of Kindness Day. At Fatima, we talk to our students each and every day about how we use our kind words, kind hands and kind hearts when interacting with each other. For those interested, please click on the link provided to see resources relating to kindness at home. https://www.randomactsofkindness.org/kindness-at-home
Rapid antigen tests
We have our final supplies of Rapid antigen tests that will be sent home with students.
Schools will no longer receive supplies of rapid antigen tests (RATs). These are now available for all Victorians from council sites.
Tomorrow we have 3/4F hosting our first assembly of the year, family members from 3/4F are invited to have a cuppa and biscuit afterwards with the class. Our Year 5/6s will not be attending the assembly, as they will be down at the local beach experiencing their first 'On Land Learning - Beach Day.' All parents and carers are welcome to all of our assemblies.
Enjoy the warmth and sunshine!
