What We've Been Up!

Students have been working hard learning about 'Place Value' and 'Irregular vs Regular Polygons' in our Maths Sessions. We have been reviewing how to write a paragraph and began our Persuasive Writing pieces which will be finished next week.

Students have also been considering 'Stress Management' in our fortnightly RRRR classes and have been searching for context clues during our daily Reading classes.

Netbooks

The long awaited time for netbooks to be sent home finally happened this week! Amongst all the excitement please continue to help students to remember to charge their netbooks each night and bring their charging cords to school in case they run flat.

Netbook cases are owned by students, so if you would like to decorate them with stickers, drawings, etc. please feel free to do so. The netbooks themselves need to remain free from stickers, tape, drawings, etc.

Learning in Weeks 5 & 6

Mathematics: Students will continue to explore 'Place Value' during our Fluid Group sessions and move on to 'Addition' and 'Subtraction' in Week 6. In our Maths Applied sessions, students will have fun completing a variety of hands-on 'Mass' and 'Symmetry' activities.

Writing & Reading: In Writing, we are learning how to write a variety of openers to improve our Persuasive pieces. During Week 6, we will complete a range of different VCOP activities. In Reading, we will explore how to use dictionaries and thesaurus' to define words and consider how to read more fluently by rereading sections of texts that are harder to understand.

Topic: Students are continuing on with the 'The Game of Life' unit and have begun to create cards to put towards their board game. This fortnight we will discuss 'Ways to Say No' and 'Ethics'.
