A SNAPSHOT OF TECHNOLOGY

MS MONIQUE WATT - CURRICULUM LEADER TECHNOLOGY

8B have settled into Food Technology well. They have been able to build upon their skills from Year 7 and so far have completed two practicals: Choc Chip Pancakes and Gingerbread Puddings with a Caramel Sauce. Students have also started to work through their Design Folio, which sees them design, prepare and evaluate a pastry parcel that meets a variety of constraints and considerations. I look forward to seeing the students’ ideas translate into their final production on the 8th of March!

7B have started the year well making Baked Potatoes and Apple and Cinnamon Muffins in Food Technology. We have begun preparations and planning for our Muffin Design brief assessment task and I am looking forward to seeing what creative and delicious designs the students will come up with.

Mrs Bell

Wow, what a very busy start to Term 1. Lots have been happening in the Technology Centre with Year 7A students completing their Jigsaw Puzzles. After they complete the evaluation of their puzzles, they will begin planning and then constructing their Device Dock.

After completing their Design Folio for their Pencil Box, Year 8A are getting close to completing their boxes ready for assessment. Once their box is finished, they will begin work on their Folding Stools which hopefully they will have well underway before they head off on camp.

The Year 9/10 DIY Wood Design class have developed their Design Folios for their Foot Stool and begun construction on the stools. After practising their dowel jointing techniques, they are now in the process of cutting materials and joining the parts of their stools together.

As busy as it has been, the students have been able to learn lots of new skills and gain a more in-depth knowledge of the Design Process.

Happy Woodworking.
