INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC
Year 7 Flute students
Congratulations to all the students who have secured a place in our Instrumental Music program for 2023.
All lessons have commenced, and the PAC is already abuzz with the sound of music. Wait lists apply for percussion, piano, voice and guitar, however we do have a few places available for flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet and trombone.
Contact Ms Goode in the PAC if you’d like any more information about the program.
If you have received confirmation that your child is able to hire a school instrument, please make sure that hire fees are paid by 28 February, so that instruments can be borrowed out through the school Library borrowing system.
Payment can be made through Compass.
Choir auditions have been postponed to this coming Monday 27 February. Choir is compulsory for all voice students but is open to anyone else who has a passion for singing.
Singing can be beneficial for improving breathing, posture and muscle tension and can also improve our sense of happiness and wellbeing.
Any students that are interested and missed the auditions, can pop into the PAC and have a chat with Ms Goode.
Congratulations to Erin Allison (Year 12) who attended the Melbourne Youth Orchestra Summer School in January.
Erin participated in workshops and rehearsals at Melbourne University, working alongside talented musicians and professionals to expand her repertoire knowledge and further develop her Oboe skills. The program culminated in a fabulous concert at Hamer Hall.
Well done, Erin!
Erin has also been awarded the LHS Band Captaincy this year. Erin’s organisation, Leadership skills, support and encouragement of others will be an asset to the program.
Welcome back to Frank Deak (guitar), Emma Jury (piano and voice), Mrs Ventura (woodwind) and a special welcome to Ms Lisa Baird (brass) and Mr Paul Coles (percussion) who have joined the instrumental team for 2023.
We look forward to a creative and music-filled year.
