The first week of school was very busy. We made portraits of ourselves and rabbits for the Chinese New Year, Year of the Rabbit. They are so cute, come and see them on our window
We also made ducks when learning about the sound Dd and kites for the sound c/k.
In Maths, we have been practising how to correctly form the numbers 1-5.
We attended a basketball clinic where we practised our ball skills.
In Week 2, we learnt about the sounds f g h and j.
We painted fish, traced girls, assembled houses and made jellyfish. We painted our jellyfish and then cut the tentacles into strips and used a pencil to roll them up -a tricky fine motor activity.
In week 3, we made lizards, monkeys and pigs. We also made cut Valentine’s Day cards for someone we love.
What is a perceptual motor program?
The Perceptual Motor Program (PMP) is a movement-based program which helps younger students improve their eye/hand and eye/foot coordination, fitness, balance, locomotion and eye-tracking skills.
We are continuing PMP each week and have used the scooter boards, trampoline, spinning tops and crawled along a line and through a cube.
In Week 4, we have made pigs, robots, seals and tigers.!
In Maths, we are continuing to learn to write our numbers correctly.
Tuesday 21 February was Pancake Day. We made pancakes with lots of delicious toppings.
In week 5, in Literacy, we made vases, zebras and yo-yos to introduce the sounds Vv, Yy and Zz.
For Inquiry, we use a program called Mappen. During Term 1 the concept across the school was ‘Identity’.
We have learnt how noise can affect our ability to listen carefully and that there are places where we can be noisy and other places where we need to be quiet.
We also made a pictograph of our favourite colours.
In Maths, we started learning addition.
In Week 6, we made chickens, thongs and shells to help us remember the sounds ch, th and sh.
We did a fine motor skill rotation where we practised our names in playdoh, used the little whiteboards and had a threading activity.

In Week 7, we painted feathers and then fringed them for the hard th sound, we made apples with a worm inside for the sound a and painted eggs for the sound e. We also made magnificent igloos for the sound i.
We celebrated anti bullying day by dressing up as superheroes.
We continued PMP with new rolling and balancing activities.
In week 8, for the sounds o u ai ee and long i, we painted oranges and snails, made a colourful beach umbrella and ate ice cream.
In Maths, we learnt about 2D shapes. We made a poster and matched shapes with their names. We made a shape pizza and had a shape magnifying class to find different shapes around the school.
We attended a footy clinic- See our action shots marking the ball!
In Week 9, we made sailboats, star wands, did a guided drawing of a horse and put it behind barn doors. We also made very snazzy birds using a concertina fold for the wings and tail. We attended a softball clinic and we were madly practising for our Palm Sunday play.
Week 10 was a busy week practising for our Palm Sunday paraliturgy.
We did a guided drawing of a teddy bear.
We also made very cute nests where we put birds with feathers.
