Learning Power Award Recipients

Congratulations to students who have been recognised by staff for their demonstration of one or many of the 6 Learning Powers celebrated at SMDP.

On Monday during our whole school assembly, the following students were acknowledged and their learning described so we all know why they are worthy recipients of our awards and applause.

For being a resilient learner who has shown that he is ready for school by coming into the classroom with confidence! Well done Khaled!

Sarah

For being a resilient learner who follows directions and engages with learning tasks even when she feels challenged by classroom distractions.  You should be proud of your start in Prep, Sarah.

Mackenzie

For being a collaborative learner who adds valuable input into group discussion and encourages others to join in by asking relevant questions. Mackenzie also  acknowledges and praises peers when they have displayed the WOW's. What a great start to the year! Well done.

For being a motivated learner who was eager to start Year 1 on a positive note. She was an active participant during group discussions and treated her new classmates with respect by listening and praising them. Well done on a calm and focused start to Year One Missi.

For being a collaborative learner who demonstrates kindness by ensuring that everyone feels included! Shiloh has been an amazing role model in the Prep community and is congratulated on a spectacular start to the year! Well done Shiloh!

For being a creative learner who is trying his best to express his ideas through drawing. Jake perseveres in all learning tasks, he reflects and then goes back to make his drawing, writing or painting better.  Well done, Jake.

For being a motivated learner who tries his best to remain focused and on task. Havish seeks teacher and peer support when he is in the learning Pit to ensure he gets the task done! Well done Havish!

For being a collaborative learner who is beginning to share her ideas confidently during collaborative learning. She listens to others and always helps her peers when needed. Well done on a great start to Year Two, Evelyn.

For being a motivated learner who has been engaged and focused during learning time. An example of this is when he wrote two prayers for our prayer book. 

Rey has also been managing distractions in the classroom very well.

For being a collaborative learner in her role as Tech Director and Tech Buddy by encouraging others and showing patience. She not only helps her assigned student, but also volunteers to help others whenever assistance is needed.

For being a creative learner who demonstrated these skills during our STEM challenge. She worked well in a group and shared her creative ideas to plan and create a successful boat. Well done Rose!

For being a motivated learner. You chose ‘Confident’ as your focus word for this year and are already demonstrating that this is your focus in the classroom. This was evident when you clearly and confidently shared your co-created writing character with the class. Keep up this fantastic focus!

For being a resilient learner, and adjusting extremely well to a new classroom environment.  You have approached challenges with a positive attitude even when you have been unsure, and you have never given up.  An example of this is when you succeeded in the boat making challenge even though it wasn’t easy!  You chose your word for the year to be courage, and you have already demonstrated this!  Well done Ulia - keep up the great effort!
