Therapy Dog

In line with supporting student engagement and connection to school, McCarthy has implemented a Therapy Dog into some of the counselling sessions with the School Psychologist.

‘Alfie’ is a 5 year old Cavador. The Cavador, a small to medium-sized breed of dog known for its alert, cheerful, and responsive nature, is produced by crossing the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel with the Labrador Retriever. He enjoys having pats and going for walks. Alfie likes being scratched on his back and head. He likes his ears being rubbed and soft strokes on his belly.

If your child or young person does not want to have interactions with Alfie, or there are any allergies, please contact the front office to make them aware. Alfie will only be present in some counselling sessions once signed consent is received.

Alfie is very excited to be a part of the McCarthy team and looks forward to meeting many of the students and parents.
