Environmental Council

As the year is quickly progressing so is the environmental council. The switch to a new executive group has been relatively successful. During Term Four of last year we held a poster competition where we had many beautiful artworks entered; making our decision ten times harder. From the Poster competition, the Environmental Council is now at work in replacing the Environmental Mural

This term in addition to focusing on ongoing projects we are introducing a joint project with The Vinnies team. This is going to be our new ten-cent recycling program. The Environmental Council will mainly run the project and the money raised from it will be donated to Vinnies in an effort to help raise money for future events throughout the school. This project will also involve the greater community and use the new bottle process plant being opened in Tamworth.

Other projects being handled this year include, but are not limited to, working on the Gully area, shredding and growing plants in the nursery area of Lab 1. Currently, there are a wide range of plants which we have grown from seed in the nursery.

The executive team would like to welcome any new members; especially those who have just joined us in Year Seven and the new Year Elevens. We meet every week during the second break on a Thursday in Lab 1. Teachers who help run and overlook the council include Mr Nichols, Mrs Smith, Mr Iuso and Dr Leu.

Joining the Environmental council is a great way to get involved within the school community and meet a wide range of amazing people who share the same interests as you. We encourage anyone who is passionate about the environment or is just looking for a fun way to spend some time while you are at school.

The 2023 team is grateful for everyone who has been working with the council for both a long and short time and say that we are looking forward to what this year has to offer.

Thank you and welcome to the new year.
