Years 7 - 12

Year 7 Camp
Year 8 Camp
The Year 8 Camp took place at Wilsons Prom, where students were camping in tents at Tidal River. Whilst we had to come home slightly earlier than expected due to strong wind and rain, the students were still able to participate in a range of activities like swimming, hiking, beach games, surf lessons, and a night time treasure hunt. Here were some of the responses students gave when asked about their camp experiences.
What was your favourite part of Camp?
My favourite activity was the treasure hunt. I thought it had some really fun and engaging puzzles, and it was also really fun in the dark
My favourite activity was going on the hike, because even though it was really annoying to walk up the mountain, the end result was very much worth it. (Chloe De Silva)
My favourite activity at camp was surfing, because I got the wipeout of the day. I went on a massive wave and my board nosedived and I got catapulted 3 metres into the air off the back of the surfboard. I then did a flip in midair then LANDED IT! Unfortunately, I fell off immediately. (Mia Ullf)
What was your funniest memory?
The funniest memory was when all the tents were all blowing away (Tayah Free)
My funniest memory was when someone's tent got broken into by a wombat (Xander McLaren)
The funnest part of camp was the bus ride home when everyone was singing (Maddie Bonnici)
What was your biggest challenge?
The hardest part about camp was going surfing and standing up, but at least I got to stand up 3 times. It was really hard (Noah Meyer)
The most challenging part was packing up the campsite with the wind and rain. (Danielle Gascard)
Year 9 Camp
Year 10 Camp
Year 10 students had an epic adventure whilst on camp last week at Illuka Retreat and our three Japanese students (Mizuki, Sakura and Minae) thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to connect with the group and experience many new things.
We travelled via ferry from Sorrento to Queenscliff on the first day and had a great time at the amazing Geelong Waterfront facility. Once back at Iluka Retreat in Shoreham the group participated in Initiative Games, stand up paddle boarding, damper cooking, treasure hunts, trivia games, tree climbing and raft building.
The Iluka staff were incredible, as was the plentiful food throughout. A huge thank you goes to Judith Kruiskamp, David Goschnick, Joel Kong, Shelley Cooper and Kathy Scott (who organised most of the camp) for making this camp such a special time.
Years 11/12 Camp
I loved the magistrates court and seeing all the hearings, I also liked being able to hang out with my friends and go and get food in our free time period. (Mac Taylor)
I enjoyed hearing from Rebekah, going ice skating for the first time and watching Puss in Boots, (Sasha Johnstone)
My highlight for camp was making connections with different people that are not in my year level. (Jordyn McKee)
Getting to know people I wouldn't normally have spent time with in the Amazing Race. (Rhys Coleman)
I enjoyed the amazing race for the freedom it provided to explore the city as well as all the opportunities to walk around and learn about the city with my mates. (Ezekiel Kruiskamp)
I really enjoyed ice skating and going on the chocolate tour with Miss Partridge. (Chloe Devenish)
The highlight of the camp was going to the NGV, I enjoyed taking photos and learning about the pieces in the exhibition. (Jai Castro)
Visiting the university's and getting valuable information from that, and the homeless tour and information given at the Salvation Army. (Ryan Baker)
I thought it was really beautiful to see my friends encounter Jesus and be touched by the holy spirit. That brought us all much closer and provoked some really deep talks. Rebekah was also really good. (Emma Martin)
Secondary Activities
Weight Shed (Monday afterschool, Tuesday lunchtime, Thursday recess)
The Weight Shed program recommenced for 2023 on Tuesday of Week 1. Many weight shed veterans returned to continue their training and were accompanied by a number of first timers.
An early highlight was Owen Matthews deadlifting 100KG for the first time for multiple reps in Week 2. We eagerly awaiting to see the progress the student make in their gym progress and community connections over the coming year.
Chess Club (Monday lunchtime)
Weekly chess club commenced January 30th and received great interest from students from Year 7 through Year 12. Over the first two weeks over two dozen students have participated, engaging in some high intensity competition with their peers.
Volleyball Hit Around (Wednesday lunchtime)
The inaugural open Secondary volleyball hit around happened on Wednesday 8 February.
During lunch time 27 students from Year 8-10 came through to play some friendly games and engage with the student community.

Food for Life
We have begun on a journey of learning about healthy eating and cooking and how this can benefit our mental, physical and spiritual health. We will be focusing on a Mediterranean diet - this week we cooked some Bruschetta and a Minestrone soup with Italian sausage. It was fun cooking these dishes, and even more fun to eat them!

We Have Lambs!
After the College closed last year and just before Christmas, we received a lovely surprise. One of our new Corriedale sheep 'unexpectedly' gave birth to a big, healthy black male lamb. Right from day 1, he was strong and very fast due to his long legs, so we have called him Usain.
A week and half later, we were blessed with another unexpected lamb this time a little white female. She is also strong and healthy but not quite as fleet of foot. We have named her Dawn.
It appears that when we purchased our flock of Corriedales in August at least 2 of the ewes arrived pregnant. The rest of the flock will hopefully produce lambs in the next few months as part of the Bayside’s Agriculture program.
