Senior School

Today (Friday) was the Senior School is Photo Day, and it is lovely to see so many of our students having made such a profound effort to look their best, and I will look forward to sending home beautifully printed photos in coming weeks. With significant amusement I recently found a box of my own school photos, hidden in the back of the cupboard under the stairs. The box revealed a record of my 1980s bowl-cuts and buzz-cuts, and 1990s under-cuts and spikes… not to mention primary school chubby cheeks, high school spots and teenage stubble. The 1980s and 90s were certainly an interesting era, but perhaps one I’m happy was not recorded photographically with the same regularity as our current social-media age!

While we always appreciate the efforts both students and parents go to in order to ensure perfect uniform and presentation on Photo Day, I would encourage our community to remember that our Uniform Policy does not apply differently depending on the day. Rather, our uniform and presentation expectations remain constant, with students asked to undertake the self-discipline necessary to come to school compliant with the School’s dress and presentation expectations each day. So, I commend the Uniform Policy to your reading. It may be found via both the Student and Parent Portals, so as to be easily accessible and written in a style to minimise confusion.

I will look forward to seeing our students continue the long tradition of taking pride in their Blue Mountains Grammar School uniform, as have generations of previous young people.
