Year 11 Psychology

Exploring Piaget's theories of cognitive development

In the Year 11 Psychology classes, students have been learning about the various theories that explain development over the lifespan. To explore Piaget’s stages of cognitive development, the students examined a set of children’s toys and considered how these toys would support a child’s development at different points in time. The class was then tasked with designing a toy and explaining how their toy would foster the growth development of young children.

Check out the photos of the wonderful designs, including:

  • Suki’s ‘Sustainable Octopus’; a transformable toy for multiple age groups
  • Saskia and Sapphire’s ‘Speaklet Set’; a bracelet for parents to wear for their child to play with, and a speaker to play a variety of soothing sounds
  • Poli’s ‘Butterfly Transformer’ and ‘Clothes Designer’ set
  • Sophie and Lily’s ‘Emotional Turtle’
  • Jonas, Julia and Matilda’s ‘Sensory Shark’
  • Zoe and Ella’s ‘Educational Tablet’

Well done to all!
