Senior boys cricket, heading into the regional competition

Senior Cricket

Our senior boys team set a high standard at the Divisional competition last week. Game one vs Preston High was straightforward after Tom Sweetman hit 54*(20) to help set 2/124 off 10 overs and get Northcote off to a percentage boosting victory. Game two vs William Ruthven saw the team chase down 54 with Nick Ryan taking 3 early wickets. Opening batters Ned Goodwin and then Isaac Bartley, did well to keep the score ticking along when wickets started falling. The last game of the day was against the other unbeaten side, Thornbury High School. THS were 34 after 4 overs and looked like setting a big total. Jack Oldfield and Jimmy Wickett bowled economically through the middle to keep THS to 75. And the most impressive contribution of the day was Tom Sweetman again with 52* hitting some impressive bowlers over the fence at a big Donath Reserve ground to chase down the runs without loss, with Connor Hastings chipping in with 22*. The boys progress to Regionals as do the girls who were looking forward to the game but Preston High unfortunately forfeited.

Year 7 Swimming Carnival : Information for students and families

We are looking forward to the Year 7 Swimming Carnival on Friday at Fitzroy Pool, a great opportunity for our students to develop new friendships through participating in a range of events. Students should make their own way to the venue and staff will be stationed along the route to provide directions.

Heat Policy: As Friday is expected to be a warm day, please ensure that students wear a hat and bring a drink bottle. The schedule will be adjusted to allow for water breaks in the pool. We will also be bringing additional shade and will advise any further updates via the compass newsfeed as we monitor the weather.

Full details of the day are attached in the flyer below.

Whole School Athletics Carnival 10 March

Our Annual Athletics Carnival is the largest community sporting event for 2023 and this year will be the first time we have had the whole school present, and we are very excited.  Students are given an opportunity to compete in a full program of event to secure their place in the divisional athletics team. As in previous years the event will be running at Coburg Athletics Track and students will make their own way to and from the venue.
