FROM THE PRINCIPAL

TERM 3 - WEEK 9
This weekend is a very special one for our Year 6 students. I congratulate them for the maturity they have displayed during their preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation. I also thank the teachers who have prepared the students so well. Tomorrow they will have their Retreat and we are very fortunate to have Bishop Kennedy spend some time with us on this Retreat. On Saturday evening and Sunday morning the students will receive the Sacrament of Confirmation at St Nicholas Church.
I am very much looking forward to next Thursday evening’s Catholic Schools Celebrate extravaganza. I have witnessed the hard work the teachers, students and parents have put into the production. It promises to be a very memorable night. If you haven’t bought tickets, it is still not too late. It will be a great night.
NAPLAN Reports for Year 3 and Year 5 have been sent home to parents. I would encourage parents to contact the school if they have any concerns with their child’s report. The school has begun analysing our data and the early signs are that our students in both Year 3 and 5 have done well this year. I read a note sent home to parents at another school and the sentiments expressed are most poignant, “We would like you to see the results of these tests as a small part of the whole picture of your child. What they do not assess is what makes your child special and unique. They do not know that your child plays a musical instrument, kicked the winning goal, joined the choir, grew from a D to C in Science, is kind and respectful, has many friends and tries hard at everything they attempt”.
A big thank you to all the parents who attended the PT&F meeting on Monday night. It was another productive and enjoyable meeting, as usual.
