Spring into Cyberspace
It was very pleasing to see the quality of the website projects this semester. Students demonstrated their skills and understanding of HTML code, the basic structure of a website along with the functionalities. Students then began learning about databases. The structure of a database, all of the components involved, database terms and additional functionalities such as drop down menus, radio buttons, check boxes, formulas and adding button with a wide variety of functions applied to them. Students are currently working on their database design brief, which involves making a database system for a local football club.
Below are some of the home pages of the web design projects.

Advanced Furniture
David Powles Kitchens & Envisage Furniture Excursion.
Last week Mr Exton & Mrs Kelton’s Advanced Furniture class had the opportunity to visit two first class businesses in Shepparton. For any of the students that are thinking about a further career in cabinet making it gave them the insight to how both businesses operate.
David Powles Kitchens creates stunning, functional kitchens, with more than 30 years experience in the Goulburn Valley. They are CAD users and experts. They create wire frame and 3D visualisations. In their workshop, they had modern equipment, such as a CMC machine cutting all the components to precise measurements, hydraulic lifting equipment to eliminate any risk to their workforce and the workshop was supplied with solar energy.
Envisage Furniture are specialists in custom made handcrafted timber furniture made from Australian and imported timbers from the design of your choice. They can sit down with a client and design an individual product meeting all the needs of the client. All of Envisage Furniture’s beautiful solid timber pieces are made from timbers sourced by their team and approved by the client using modern and tradition processes.
The excursion gave the students to opportunity to compare the two businesses to each other and then compare the workforce to the type of equipment and products we produce here at school.
