Year 11 Foundation Maths

Earlier this term, a Year 11 Foundation Math class welcomed Russell Thorn from GoTafe. He gave students some insight into what employers are looking for when choosing a successful candidate for an apprenticeship.

Student reports from Year 11 Foundation Maths:

On Friday Russell came in and talked to our class about apprenticeships and employers and what they do and don't like. He gave us a few tips on how to get an apprenticeship. One of his main points was attendance, employers look at attendance because they want someone reliable. They also like it when you go in and talk to them in person rather than call them over the phone or email a resume. Russell really helped everyone, making us all feel comfortable about the future with his tips. Russell also recommended TAFE as a good way to get into the industry, employers will call up GoTafe and ask if there are any students ready for an apprenticeship.                                                                  Josh, Sam, Tristan

I thought Russell’s visit was helpful for most of the class. He told us what employers are looking for and to do our work at school.              Clay

Russell’s visit was very inspiring because he told my classmates to make a choice and stay at school and work hard.                                                     Kale
