Level Crossing Removal

Mentone is currently home to the biggest level crossing construction blitz ever undertaken .

The crews have been working 24 hours a day since late May, removing the boom gates in Mentone and Cheltenham, digging the 2.5km-long trench and building the new stations. They've  removed 200,000 cubic metres of soil – that’s enough dirt to fill 74 Olympic sized swimming pools!

Pedestrians are now able to cross Balcombe Road, and the road will be open to vehicle traffic from Tuesday 23 June (weather permitting). It is very important that our students always follow the instructions of the traffic controllers.

Buses will continue to replace trains between Moorabbin and Mordialloc and between Frankston and Stony Point until Sunday 26 July.

Trains will be back up and running on Monday 27 July.

The brand new Mentone Station will open on Monday 3 August, with Cheltenham Station opening on Monday 17 August.

Finishing touches on the stations, car parking, landscaping and works on the new walking and cycling path will continue until the end of the year.

The Tower

The College Tower will be undergoing some much needed maintenance during Term 3.

The Tower will be surrounded by scaffolding for a period of 8 to 10 weeks as works are undertaken to replace bricks which have been delaminating, repoint all of the brickwork, replace the window frames, repair the internal staircase and landings and replace damaged slate on the peak of the Tower.

This work will see our Tower standing proud in the centre of Mentone once again and will allow us to reopen the access to College visitors via Gate 1.
