School Works Update
New building:
There was great excitement during the school holidays as Corinne & I watched the ten individual modules be craned into position to form a new wing for the Middle Years Sub School. There are four classrooms with small adjoining rooms for small groups, a library, home economics room, a laundry, and staff, student & all abilities toilets. We haven't been allowed access yet as the on-site work is happening at the moment.
Window protection:
Window grills were installed over the lower windows in the secondary wing walkway. These will protect the windows from stray balls or any piece of equipment from breaking the windows.
We also cemented a "pad" in the staff carpark so that we had a flat surface for all our recycling bins - all 20 of them. This will make it easier for the students putting them out for collection fortnightly.
New chairs
Staff chairs have been delivered to replace the chairs in the staff room which have worn well, but are well worn! Staff will appreciate.
Computers & iPads for remote learning.
The school has exhausted its supply of computers and iPad that we can lend to families to support remote learning. We have ordered some new computers to add to the stock available, however we have no idea of the delivery time. If you still need a computer please email Denise to be put on the waiting list. I asked the technician if there was any advice for parents who were thinking of upgrading their home technology. He suggested that the minimum requirements for a laptop are :
- Windows 10 Operating System
- Core i3 or i5 processor
- 8G of RAM and
- 256 GB minimum storage.
If the computer price does not include Ms Office Software you can get free Apache OpenOffice https://www.openoffice.org/ and download. It is similar to MS Office.
