2019 in Summary

BUILD FUND - Tax deductible

Tax deductible donations to our Building Fund allow us to realise ongoing upgrades to buildings and social spaces and larger campus Master Plan projects, supporting current and future generations of students.

In 2019, we continued to upgrade the number of locker bays ensuring a 1:1 ratio for each NHS student, we upgraded to LED lighting across the entire school to reduce our impact on the environment and reduce costs that could be better placed in student learning programs as well as we purchased new furniture for the outdoor area of our Performing Arts Building, providing our students with an additional place to socialise and our senior students to study.

These projects are all funded by our school community as we are unable to rely on government funding to support future facilities development. The campus Master Plan information and blueprints are available on our school website.

LIBRARY FUND - Tax deductible

Well-resourced libraries are central to student learning experience and provide space for research, collaboration and flexible learning. Tax deductible donations to our Library Fund help us to acquire library resources and fund student clubs and activities. Classroom learning at Northcote High School is extended and complemented by our wide-ranging program of co-curricular activities and lunchtime clubs.

In 2019 we had a total of $31,000 in donations to the Inspire Fund, these donations contributed to the total money raised to renovating our Library. We are 72% of the way to funding our library upgrade.

EMPOWER FUND - Tax deductible

Northcote High School is the first school in Australia to have been granted tax deductible status for donations which allow us to purchase essential items such as uniforms, books and travel cards for students in need. We want all our students to be able to participate equally at school and not be disadvantaged by financial status.

In 2019, Empower Grants supported 9 students and their families in financial need, providing access to student devices, Myki passes and other essential items including uniform, text books and stationary.

INNOVATE FUND Innovative thought is at the forefront of educational and enterprise best practice. We’ve established this fund to encourage, recognise and embrace innovative thinking at Northcote High School.

We’ll be calling for written submissions from students or staff members who would like to propose an innovative practice that will benefit the school. Funds to research and advance winning ideas will be granted by a panel of school council members and student representatives.

In 2019, 8 Innovate Grants totalling $4,000.00 were provided to student groups. Donations to our Innovation Fund are not tax deductible.

Thank you to all who donated to the Thrive Funds in 2019, a total of $106,729 was generously raised.
