Honorary Teaching Degree certificate

All families have now received their Honorary Teaching Degree certificate. We thank all parents, carers, step parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, older siblings, neighbours etc… who helped your child accomplish big and small, during such unprecedented times.

Bookmark memento

All children have now received a special bookmark commemorating this challenging time learning from home. “I survived and thrived remote learning in 2020” looked different for different people but we feel there was one constant; the joy of reading. We hope that every time your child reads a special book, using the bookmark, it reminds them of simple times where reading a book meant so much.

School Processes

School Day

From Week 1, Term 3, CSPS will revert back to 'normal' in relation to a 9.00 - 3.30pm school day.

Kiss & Go

The Kiss & Go zone will ONLY be opened 8.45 - 9.00am AND 3.30 - 3.45pm.

Principal class and staff will continue to be present during these times, to ensure families are positive role models to their children and community.

School entry/exit

Browns Road is the preferred entry point to the school. These gates will be opened for those students walking, scooting or riding at 8.45am. No student is to be in the yard prior to 8.45am.

Any student arriving after 9.00am will be marked as late.

The Pearcedale Road gates will continue to be locked, to further promote safe behaviours of students and families on Pearcedale Road and at the General Store.

Camps Update

DET has informed us that school camps can reopen from from 11.59pm on 21 June with health and safety precautions required. Camps can proceed with school bookings consistent with typical class/year level sizes (Year 5/6 Camp Rumbug: 14 - 16th September, Year 3/4 Camp Toolangi: 21 - 23rd October).

Precautions include:

sleeping arrangements
hygiene practices and cleaning of facilities
physical distancing among adults
camp operators undertaking risk assessments and planning
the involvement of parent volunteers.

Child Safe

With the Term 2 break just around the corner, families are preparing to have their children at home. This will be particularly challenging for some families with many COVID-19 restrictions still in place. In an article by Natalie Gately entitled ‘How to keep your kids safe while you're working these holidays’ the following points may be useful for many families.

Home security

check your children know how to phone triple 0 in the event of an emergency. Write down your full name, address and telephone number and keep it by the phone. Kids (and adults!) can panic in emergencies and forget basic details.
write down a responsible available person's number if you are at a job that cannot take phone calls.
create a family "phone book" with each family member's particular friends. Make sure you know the names and phone numbers of their closest mates.
limit time online and install security software that allows you to monitor online activity and avoid online predators.

Safety tips for older children going out during the school holidays.

agree on times they can be outside while you are not home (and limit extended periods of time)
agree on where they are allowed to go — locations that provide pseudo-supervision (such as shopping centres) are preferable to long periods of street-wandering
make sure they know not to go near people in cars who stop to talk to them (do not approach the car even if the person is speaking quietly).
instead of telling children never to talk to strangers, tell them if they need help to look for a mother with children or go into a public place (like a shopping centre) and ask for help
notice if your child seems to have excess funds or new items in the house. Investigate further if they tell you they have been "given" or "loaned" something from a friend.
notice if they seem quiet or reluctant to tell you how they have spent their day.
