Bulldogs Read Literacy Program

We have 18 students from Years 3-6 who are currently participating in the Bulldogs Read Literacy Program. As you may recall from a previous newsletter, several weeks ago students attended the launch day at the Ballarat Regional Soccer facility where they had an opportunity to meet players from both the Bulldogs AFL and AFLW teams, as well as interact with students from the other participating schools.

Today was the second engagement day where students participated in an online Q & A session with the following Bulldogs players:

 ● Cody Weightman (#3)

● Caleb Daniel (#35)

Students had an opportunity to talk to the players about all things reading as well as football. The students are also currently working on preparing and sharing their book reviews with students from the 7 other schools participating in the program by posting on the Bulldogs Read platform.

Early next term, the students will visit the Sebastopol Library for a visit (all students have been issued with their own library card) and have an opportunity to have a tour with the Children’s Librarian, as well as borrow books.

The program aims to build students’ engagement in literacy by providing opportunities for them to engage with role models and mentors from within the Western Bulldogs players and broader staff, as well as the City of Ballarat Libraries.
