Magis report

Our International debaters performed very well against strong opposition last week, with both the Year 7 and 8 teams winning and the Year 9’s narrowly losing on a very difficult impromptu topic.  The teams have shown great skill, initiative and enthusiasm. Their final debates of the qualifying rounds is this Friday.

The new House Ministry Challenge has proved very successful, and results will be in next week’s newsletter. There will be a final make-up round this Tuesday for Year 7s who missed last week because of event clashes. Year 11’s set the best example of commitment with 57 students competing in the ministry challenge – an outstanding response from our leaders for 2022!  Koolyangarra,  St Louis and Loreto lead the overall points table so far.

Our two Ethics Olympiad teams are working well with coaches Ms Daisy Farley (Year 9) and Ms Morgan Ball (Year 7), and the event is next week with a full day program on Tuesday 9 November. Best wishes to both teams for this wonderful competition which aligns so well with college values.

We are just two weeks away now from the Years 7/8 Magis Personal Project Exhibition, and there is a great range of exciting, creative projects being finalised.  The exhibition opens with a light breakfast in the Roncalli Hall  after which each of the 23 students involved will give a very brief talk about his or her  project. A colourful Personal Project Catalogue will provide further description of each student’s work, and the invitation flyer will go out with next week’s newsletter.
