Year 7 Humanities

How fantastic is it to be back! Lovely to be swapping out a sea of blank screens over Webex for smiling faces and friendly chatter!

Year 7 students are studying Economics and Business this term, and this week looked at how technological advancements have changed the workplace and how occupations have evolved over time, and Josh has presented his poster on ‘How I use Technology’.  Anyone else remember how to use a rotary phone?

Year 7 SEAL Economics News

During remote learning 7G had two student teachers, Miss Chan and Mr Hall from Monash to teach them Economics. Having young university students means that the class have the opportunity to have many different teaching styles and new IT ideas to help them learn.

7G’s favourite IT program during remote learning by far was Quiplash. After the student teachers added in the Economics questions that they had written the game started. This allowed the students to answer questions such as ‘Name 3 needs’ and ‘What is the best definition of Surplus’ as well as ‘Why do EB Games always have a sale on’. The students would put their answers in and then everyone would vote on the most correct answer. There was not much time to write their answer in and it did get very competitive! The feedback from the class was to request me to add this game to our revision time.

I enjoyed playing Quiplash, it helped me better understand the topic whilst keeping me engaged in class.

I thought that JackboxTV was really good for helping us learn about Economics. We were able to share what we thought the terms were and then learn the answers.  I also thought it was fun because the program made learning more fun and was definitely different form the standard Kahoot we usually do.
