Classroom News - Kindergarten

English

In English we have been introducing CVCC words. To help us ensure we are hearing all the sounds in our CVCC words, we have been playing a lot of our favourite game, hot potato.

Maths

Last week in Maths we were learning all about halves. Halves are two equal parts, and we were able to show this with many things, including collections of objects.

This week, we have been looking at comparing areas of different surfaces. To do this, we have been placing objects on top of one another to see if an object is totally covered or not. 

Science

We have dived into our new Science unit all about materials. We used our handmade telescopes to help us find different materials in our classroom. We have also been rotating through different stations to explore how different objects look, feel, smell and sound, all because of the different materials they are made from!

Religion

In Religion we are getting ready for Jesus’ birth. We had lots of fun showing off our fantastic writing skills by writing on scrolls describing the ways we get ready for Christmas. Of course we had to decorate them as if they were 100 years old!
