Last Thursday, the teachers of St Mary’s participated in a Twilight Professional Learning session devoted to Wellbeing. This session focussed primarily on the wellbeing of the staff in our school. When schools support the wellbeing of staff it is well known to have a positive impact on productivity as well as on student outcomes.
Two key factors that we investigated for effective wellbeing were firstly staff taking responsibility for their own physical and mental health and the second being the school culture.
In moving forward, we made personal goals to improve our own individual wellbeing. We also worked collaboratively to create a plan that endorsed a positive school culture that allowed staff to feel supported and to have the opportunity to thrive.
“Wellbeing is attained by little and little, and nevertheless is no little thing itself.”
