Class Celebrations

Celebrating the growth in our wonderful children on each learning level...

Grade Prep

The Prep students have shown great courage, resilience and optimism in being the first grade level to return to onsite learning. We are so proud of them!

Over the past two weeks, we have been exploring the fairy tale of the ‘The Gingerbread Man’. The students read a ‘twisted’ version of this tale and even had a go at creating their own version in small groups. The ideas were incredibly imaginative including ‘The Banana Bread Man’ and ‘The Chocolate Cupcake Man’.

Grade 1

In Grade 1 this week, the students have been learning about 3D shapes. The students have been learning about the features of 3D shapes (faces, edges, and .vertices). The students took part in a 3D shape treasure hunt at their homes and also created 3D shapes out of objects.

Grade 2

In Grade 2, we had an online in visit by author Brian Falkner. Brian shared that he had a dream of becoming an author and he worked hard to achieve his dreams. He wrote his first book at the age of 30 and was first published at the age of 40. He inspired us to follow our dreams no matter how hard they may seem. Thanks Brian!

Grade 3/4

Grade 3/4 transitioned back to on-site learning on Tuesday and Wednesday this week. Their teachers were just as excited as they were! Their bright, smiling faces filled our school with joy. It was so fantastic to see them back, catching-up with friends and ready to learn.

The Grade 3 and 4 students embody our school values of Character, Community and Learning. They were prepared for their school day, they were kind to anyone that they crossed paths with, and they slipped back into the routines and expectations of SMPS seamlessly. Your teachers are so proud, Grade 3/4. Thanks for making us smile!

Grades 5 & 6

It has been a pleasure having our Grade 5 and 6 students back on-site for a couple of days! They settled back in beautifully. We have been incorporating lots of group work in lessons to help students reconnect with their peers and practise social skills. On Friday, students worked with their peers to complete a Numeracy Week scavenger hunt. They searched for maths problems that they solved in various ways. It was wonderful to see everyone so well together.
