Creative Writing Club: September Writing Challenge

Heathmont College’s Creative Writing Club launched in the last two weeks of term. It provided students with an opportunity to participate in games and workshops that will expand their imagination and spark ideas. Students also had the opportunity to get feedback on their writing from other students and teachers. Students will play a key role in the future direction of the club and possible term 4 activities include working on script for school productions and workshops with professional writers.

The Creative Writing Club runs every Monday lunch time in C1 with Mr McClare. Come and check it out!

September Writing Challenge

The students produced a range of different story prompts, and we spun a wheel to see which prompts would be used for our first monthly writing challenge.

The best piece of writing that incorporate all the prompts into a piece of writing will win a block of chocolate and have their story appear in the Gazette.

All the prompts need to be incorporated into each entry, but they do not need to be the main focus. Writing can take the form of a short story, poem, song, comic strip, multimedia, or any format of the student’s choice. There is no minimum word count but entries should be no longer than 1000 words. Entries should sent to Timothy.McClare@education.vic.gov.au and the winner will be decided by the students in the creative writing club at the first meeting after the holidays.
