Sandsong: Stories from the Great Sandy Desert

On Wednesday 31st August, our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students along with the Year 10/11 Drama students embarked on an excursion to the Art Centre to see  "Sandsong: Stories from the Great Sandy Desert". The story tells the unique story of this Place and the survival of its People. SandSong is created by Bangarra Dance Theatre in consultation with Wangkatjunga/Walmajarri Elders from the Kimberley and Great Sandy Desert regions. This was normally at a cost of $28 per student plus transport, however all transport and ticket costs are covered by our First Fund Partnership with Arts Centre Melbourne.

The students that went were perfect ambassadors for the College and all enjoyed themselves. They were amazed by the powerful performances and in awe of the ability and talent of the dancers.

Boys to Men

"Boys to Men" is a Koorie boys program in partnership with Mullum Mullum Indigenous Gathering Place (MMIGP) and Dardi Munwurro to offer support for boys social, emotional wellbeing and strengthening their cultural identity. Recently, we were visited by Chris Hume from MMIGP to show some the boys some traditional boomerangs, didgeridoo and talk through the program.
