Connecting Community Program

Academy staff and students have continued to develop relationships with staff and students from Sacred Heart Primary school in Fitzroy. Last week we shared an art activity with the Years 5 and 6 students creating images of Fitzroy using the techniques of Austrian artist, Friedensreich Hundertwasser.

Student Reflections

All of the students' drawings consisted of brilliant and vibrant colours including bold designs to truly emphasise the sense of connection and familiarity they have with Fitzroy but also to let their creativity flow.  Hannah Cullen Year 10

I really valued the experience I got out of it, and getting to know some of the students from the suburb that I spend so much time in was a priceless opportunity. It allowed me to get a better sense of the vibrancy and close knit-community that is Fitzroy, and the students were so lovely to talk to.  Harriet Berman Year 10

The children had good ideas to display in their art. Cathy Vo Yr 10

It was great fun to talk to the kids and to see all of the different approaches they all took when completing their artworks. It was also a great opportunity for the Sacred Heart girls who are going to Academy in the next couple of years to build a little connection with us Academy girls. Ruby Prattico Yr 11

They had creative minds and their drawings were mostly colourful. Ivy Vo Yr 10

We got to help the students with creating artwork based on the Fitzroy neighbourhood. It was really great to talk to new people and being able to be part of Connecting Communities was really nice. I hope to do this again in the future. Monica Di Paolo Yr 7

It was a great opportunity for the students to display their creative expression and also strengthening our connections with the primary school.
Yasmin Pitisano Yr 12

It was a great opportunity to spend time with others and to build strong connections which we will cherish and hopefully get to continue making in the future years. Amelia Callea Yr 12
