Formal- One Night in Hollywood

Senior Formal

This night was a long time in the making and boy are we glad we were able to get it over the line this year!!

As case numbers began to rise again and there was rumblings of mask wearing making a return, I was nervous that for the third year running, we would have our Senior Formal yanked out from under us yet again. Fortunately, this was not the case…

On Friday 15th of July almost a hundred of our senior students glammed up and descended on Chirnside Park Country Club for “One Night in Hollywood”. Our Year 12 students have a rite of passage in selecting a theme each year for the senior formal, and they decided to follow in the footsteps of the year before and roll out the red carpet with a ‘Hollywood’ themed event.

We had our very own paparazzi team madly snapping photos and working the red carpet, grabbing interviews with anyone and everyone as the students arrived. They acted shy, but they totally loved it, I mean, no one gets glammed up like that and doesn’t want pics for their social media right? Certainly no one under 30.

No Hollywood night would be complete without sending a few people home with some awards they don’t really care about and a special (and slightly odd) guest performance from a Melbourne magician known as Mr Marmalade.

Marmalade’s stage show left the students confused and Mr Biffin  weirded out, but I think we can all agree that Marmalade was absolutely mind blowing up close and it was so fun to see you all so delighted by a little magic. Our Year 10 boys were desperate to unearth his secrets, I even saw Blake attempt to eat the ace of spades, but Marmalade was just too good!

Thank you to everyone who attended, took photos, was photographed, hung out, danced until we pulled the plug, mc’d, dj’d, dropped off and picked up. You all helped this night come to life and we appreciate the work that you do.

I would like to thank the students for their behaviour on the night and for taking a chance on what we always knew would be a stunning and fun school event!

Not so long between formals from now on, we’re looking forward to doing it all again next year!
