Helping our children to stay safe online: Snapchat

The Carly Ryan foundation https://www.carlyryanfoundation.com/ is an amazing South Australian based organisation which provides online safety, cyberbullying and proactive strategies to help our young people navigate the online space.

Attached is a fact sheet about Snapchat:

Some key takeaways:

  • The age rating in the App store is 12+
  • It is a popular messaging app that lets users exchange text, pictures and videos that disappear after they are viewed.
  • The safety information highlighted in the challenges is very important to read.
  • The Snap Map allows users to see where their friends are, as long as these friends choose to share their location.
  • Information about how to disable location settings and block users is available on the fact sheet.
  • Inappropriate behaviour can be reported to Snapchat administrators

Ongoing monitoring and questioning ensures your children are using apps like Snapchat safely and only communicating with known people.

Father’s Day Stall

Father’s Day is just around the corner. St Paul will be having a Father’s Day stall on the morning of Thursday 1 September (Term 3 Week 6) coordinated by Jess Deer and our amazing office team. Gifts range from $2.00-$7.00 and children are able to purchase a maximum of 3 gifts. Purchases can be made via the QKR app or cash can be brought on the day. The QKR app is now open and available for online purchases. We recommend that QKR payments are no more than $15.00 as leftover tokens are donated to ALWS (Australian Lutheran World Service) If you are able to volunteer, please email Jess Deer jdeer@stpaulba.sa.edu.au
