Division Athletics
At the end of last term 11 students from our school attended the Casey South Division Athletics carnival. All the students gave it their all in the glorious sunshine - a contrast to the weather we had at the previous carnival.
Thankyou to the parents and family members for transporting the children to and from the venue and being their biggest cheerleaders.
Congratulations to the following students who qualified to attend Southern Metropolitan Regional Athletics.
11 yr relay - Finlay V, Lara A, Shugar M & Briannha D.
11 yr 100m - Briannha D
11 yr High Jump - Ayden N
Regional Athletics
On Wednesday 19th October our 5 superstars who qualified participated at the Regional Athletics Carnival. It was a glorious day wit the sun shining. We are so proud of the students for their outstanding results:
11 yr High Jump - Ayden placed 6th
11 yr 100m - Briannha placed 6th
11 yr relay team - Briannha, Shugar, Finlay & Lara placed 5th in their heat.
Big thanks to their cheer squads - its so great having such supportive families who love seeing our Cranny South students shine.
Congratulations to Shugar
Shugar recently competed at Melbourne Royal. The show was almost a disaster with Shugar’s pony hurting himself and being unable to compete. Despite round the clock treatments on the pony he was still lame when we put him in a class on the last day. Luckily we were able to find Shugar a beautiful little pony to use for her novice rider and her open rider classes. Shugar did a fantastic job considering she had never ridden the pony before and she managed to place second in both of her rider classes. The judge commented that is was a very difficult decision as both Shugar and the winner rode so beautifully. Shugar also came 4th in the Fancy Dress competition with another little pony.
Outstanding work Shugar - we look forward to continuing to follow your pony riding journey.
Environmental Studies
Nature Play
It has been an a-maze-ing start to the term! We made some wonderful nature mazes and the students showed how creative and persistent they can be. We also investigated all the trees in the school to see how old they were, this was a very interesting activity and there was some great teamwork and problem solving on display.
The Foundation students have been lucky enough to go exploring in the bush, we got to use the binoculars to search for wildlife.
Kitchen Garden
We have been back in the garden during the first two weeks, the weeds have been trying to take over but the Year 3 and 4's have been working hard to put a stop to this. The garden beds are ready to plant out and we will look forward to lots of vegetables and fruit.
Kitchen
We had our first kitchen session of the Term this week, it was so much fun and really yummy. I don't think much would of made it home as the students gobbled up their pizza's pretty quickly!
Environmental Science
This term is all about creativity and simple machines. The Senior students are planning, creating and problem solving how simple machines work, so that they can build a Rube Goldberg Machine.
Media Arts
The Media Arts curriculum encompasses the fields of technology, literacy, art and design. It has definitely engaged all students, maybe because iPads are involved!
Junior School- Making a digital photo story
Students took photos of a furry friend going on a school adventure for their photo book. Check out more photos on Seesaw!
They are now using an App called 'Book Creator' to upload photos, add text, change backgrounds and add voice recordings. We are using our beautiful new break-out space to record our voices for our story.
Middle School- Pre-production
In preparation of filming week for StopMotion, students have been busy storyboarding and making the set design and props.
Senior School- Claymation
Students have created very entertaining and clever animated movies with sound effects to top it off! They used the 2 different apps, StopMotion and iMovie. We were definitely learning from each other and experimenting with different techniques and ideas.
