Attendance Matters
As we head into Term 4, the final term for 2022, please see below for a refresh of the CSPS 'Do's and Don'ts' of Attendance and Attendance marking.
- When entering an attendance note on Compass, the only item parents may need to adjust is the DATE. The TIME on a whole day attendance note requires no adjusting.
- Parents are NOT required to personally enter LATE ARRIVAL/EARLY DEPARTURES via Compass. These are only entered via the admin office.
- Please view the below flowcharts to help you understand the process:
Same Day Absences - Eg; you decide on the day that your child is unable to attend school
Known Absences - Eg; you know ahead of time that your child will be unable to attend school on a certain day/s - Our preferred early collection times are: Break #1@ 10:40am or 11:25 am and Break #2 @ 1:00pm or 1:50pm. We request that students are collected at one of these times to minimise interruption to teaching and learning in the classroom.
- Extended absences (more than 5 school days) require prior approval. Please inform the classroom teacher/cranbourne.south.ps@education.vic.gov.au, of extended absences at least two weeks prior to departure. This will allow time to get the necessary paperwork in place.
Unexplained Absence Letters
When a student has a number of unexplained attendance's, families will receive an Unexplained Absence Letter. This is an opportunity for families to catch up on explaining their child's reason for absence.
Unexplained Absence Letters were sent out to families (if necessary) late last term. Thank you to those families who returned these. It's not to late to return yours if you still have it at home on your 'To Do' pile. Our aim is to have NO unexplained absences!
If you have any questions regarding this process please do not hesitate to contact us.
Thank you,
Attendance Team
