Hard at Work

Isolation with Ms. Stipcevic

I’ve honestly missed being in the art room making a mess with all my classes so much!  But isolation has meant lots of cuddles with my fur baby Indie and living in active wear 😆

Enjoying working in the sunshine and getting some fresh air. I’ve definitely taken up gardening as a little hobby.

Missing all the students at LSC and can’t wait to see you all soon. ☺

To survive remote teaching and learning you need to be adaptive, creative and ready to upskill your IT skills within a flash. Make sure your workspace is set up ready to go and don’t forgot to have your breaks at recess and lunch away from the SCREEN. There is plenty of extra time to learn a new skill, so l have been learning how to create cooking videos via iMovie. I also pulled out the dusty mountain bike from the garage and changed the tubes to go for quick rides in between classes. Best of all slow cooking works a treat from home and l love a jam on the guitar. Stay safe and wash your hands.

I am a mum of two teenage girls that are home schooling .

Husband working from home too, so has been very challenging time for us all.

Working from home I find very hard and challenging but staying safe is even more important. We are all in this together

I miss all my students and can’t wait to see you all soon.

Isolation with Ms. Summers

Hi everyone, I hope that you are surviving learning from home. It sure is a bit of a strange experience with lots of new challenges to face.

This is a picture of me and my boys in front of our art wall.  Everything goes up here. It’s our feel good space. We definitely need one of these as there have been lots of meltdowns from all three of us over the last few weeks!  I’m not sure that Mum is always their favourite teacher and they are definitely not always my favourite students... Love them to bits but would prefer to teach you guys any day of the week!!!

One of the boys highlights of homeschool has been sharing my work space when I am making a video call. They are fascinated by teenagers! They love to hear about you all, love seeing the student’s artworks and are desperate to come and check out the school for themselves one day.

Tomorrow is Fun Friday, which means schools out by mid morning and then the weekend begins! We hope that you have all had a good week and that you have an awesome weekend too. Stay safe and feel proud of how far you have come in adapting to this new situation. You are all superstars 🤩 Alison, Liam and Sam

Hi everyone,

I hope you are all well.

I’m getting used to the ‘new’ way of teaching via Remote Learning. It’s been somewhat of a challenge, especially in relation to the large number of students (mostly Y.7 & 8s) who initially needed help with various computer related issues. I think that the students are now becoming more proficient in their use of computers

(as am I) and they are generally developing their skills as independent learners.

For me personally, working from home has quite a few positives: not having to get up at ‘the crack of dawn’, not having to drive through peak hour traffic, not hearing the school bell and enjoying my quiet surroundings. (I don’t have any kids!) To some extent, it’s also made me more organised with my work. I enjoy the flexibility that I have in relation to scheduling meetings, etc. However, I have definitely found that I am working longer than normal hours.

My husband and I walk our puppy every night, which I find is very relaxing and enjoyable. I also like to find some time, either during the week or on weekends to do some gardening, shopping, etc. This gets me moving, away from my desk.

See you when we return to school!

Isolation with Mr. Mustafovski (Mr.M)

It has been a unique experience to teach from the comforts of my home although it does make me appreciate the facilities of the college as well as the everyday interactions that I have with the students. I have been extremely impressed with how majority of students have approached this time and have maintained focus showing great independence. I hope all are doing well and staying safe. Looking forward to seeing everyone when we return.

Regards

Mr M

Hi Year 8s! I hope you’re all well and safe.

We have received some excellent feedback about your progress in the remote learning model and I just wanted to say- keep up the good work!

Looking forward to seeing everyone one of you when we return :)

“Hi everyone! As you can see from my jury-rigged standing desk, I’ve let my “too much gene” take over in managing social isolation! Cleaning, cooking, gardening, repairing furniture in my workshop, making model airplanes, I’ve kicked my every hobby into high gear!”

Isolation with Ms. Ryan

Currently taking over the dining table teaching my classes as well as my daughter Wynter who is in grade 1 and my son Chase who is in Prep. Hubby is out working and it definitely doesn’t look this calm most of the time. Doing the best we can but grateful we are safe and healthy.

Isolation with Ms. Foster

Isolation has seen my family and I take time to do things we wouldn’t have usually had time to do with our busy schedules. We have walked every day to keep active, done puzzles, Lego and watched lots of Netflix. I have a home office where I work from each day which I set up when I found out we wouldn’t be coming back in Term 2. We also bought a puppy who we named Bruce and he comes home to us next week. We can’t wait! I miss seeing my students every day. Covid-19 has taught me not to take the little things in life for granted. I look forward to seeing everyone again really soon.

Isolation with Mr. Scott

Home teaching has been challenging but fun. I share my work space with my baby daughter’s nursery and sometimes I have to help change her nappies between classes! I hope everyone is doing OK and I look forward to seeing you all in person (hopefully!) soon. Mr. Scott

Isolation with Mr Bullen

This is my current ‘at home’ workspace.

I start my day reading ‘atomic habits’, a book by James Clear that details the remarkable results possible through tiny habit formations’

Following this I plan my classes for the week and begin my video calls with my respective classes.

You’ll notice a guitar next to my desk where I clear my mind through music, a great tool for me during class breaks.

The 2009 Carlton poster above my computer is also great reinforcement of what NOT to do.

I keep myself busy by concentrating on preparing worthwhile online lessons for my classes. It was initially rather challenging trying to teach remotely, but after a while I got used to it. When I'm not teaching, I enjoy watching movies, reading, cooking and playing computer games. This isolation is not too bad and it won't last forever. Keep safe.

Isolation with Ms Absoriati

Things that keep me busy is making short videos for my students as recorded tutorial during my spare time in working hours.  General isolation activity is assisting my own children to do their school work and trying new recipes and being creative using whatever I have in the pantry 😊 and NETFLIX at night.

During isolation I’ve been enjoying the city views from my apartment and taking walks to the local park with my partner’s dog Scooby. He’s an Aussie Shepherd and loves running around and catching frisbees, he’s pretty good at it too. It’s been nice to get lots of fresh air and spend time at home relaxing after work but I really miss being able to make music in the music classroom and performing in my brass and samba bands.

Congratulations to all year 7's for their efforts in online learning so far and a big thank-you to all families for their support! Shadow says sorry for always barking during Math lessons!!" From Ms Laird & Shadow.

Dear students, I hope all of you are coping with the stresses of learning online, being in front of the computer all the time and not having the chance to meet your friends. I am certainly looking forward to standing in front of a real classroom. Here are some photos of how my teaching desk looks like (yep, that’s my little son’s whiteboard, in case if I needed it!). I have my kids learning from home too, and of course my husband working from home.  Take care of yourselves and hope to see you soon at school
