Senior School Report

Senior School Update

A fantastic start in the Senior School by all of our students and the new Senior Team, which is great to see. As we are heading into the final stages of the schooling journey this positive feel amongst the students is absolutely brilliant. Our new School Captains, Renzie Abuan, Danielle Jeffrey, Caleb Michie and Harrison Puts have been great in leading by example both in class and around the school.

For those of you who would like to be aware of the changes that have been occurring, there is a list. Firstly, our brilliant Year 12 cohort has moved into the newly renovated Learning Centre and have made it their own quickly. Shelby Wulffers is the staff member working directly with this year’s group. Students are settling well into their specific programs and adjusting well to the timetable changes. Shelby is assisting all of our VCE students in dedicated study sessions, and I have been hearing positive reports about these sessions from both staff and students.

Year 11 students have also made a very fine start in their Senior School journey. Norman Trewin, new to his role in Senior School, has been working closely with all Year 11s to assist with any concerns, and generally making the year start as smooth as possible. Students are making great use of their new Year 11 Common Room area, and beyond reports of occasional mess which some students need to take more care with, this space is a great success.

Kristy Bannister has moved into the role of VCAL Manager for 2019. This role is focused on further developing our VCAL program to best cater for the needs of our VCAL students. The work being done is here very exciting and I cannot wait to see what comes next for our students.

On a personal front, after moving into the role of Senior School Manager for 2019 from my role as Leading Teacher – ICT innovation and Data Literacy, I have been thoroughly enjoying working with the Lowanna student body to make Years 11 and 12 the most enjoyable and productive times that they can be. We have already rolled out letter detailing SACs weeks for term 1 for all VCE studies, and will look to continue this shortly. If any student is going to be absent, in particular for a SAC, please make sure the senior school is contacted and medical certificates are supplied where possible.

All the best, and keep up the great work to all our Lowanna Senior Students.

Regards,

Justin Rea
