ISQua’s 37th International Conference, in partnership with Centro Regionale Gestione Rischio Clinico e Sicurezza del Paziente (GRC) and the Italian Network for Safety in Healthcare, will take place in Florence, Italy from 30th August to 2nd September 2020. The theme for this year's conference is 'Emotion, Inspiration and Creativity: Pathways to Global Health Quality'.

 

Each year the ISQua conference attracts more than 1300 healthcare professionals from every continent. Over 200 healthcare quality and safety leaders will share their real-world experiences and insights, including: lessons learnt from recent healthcare crises, initiatives to reduce hospital mortality, digital health technologies, eHealth, and patient engagement.

 

ISQua’s conferences cover the topics that matter most to the healthcare industry and allows for like-minded individuals across the world to collectively understand how they can impact and improve healthcare safety and quality.

 

Speakers confirmed to date include:

  • Charles Vincent:  Co-author of ‘Safer healthcare: strategies for the real world’ Springer, Open Access (2016). Director of Oxford Healthcare Improvement, UK
  • Trish Greenhalgh:  Professor of Primary Care Health Sciences, University of Oxford, UK.
  • Boel Andersson Gäre: Professor of Quality improvement and Leadership at Jönköping University, Sweden
  • René Amalberti:  Co-author of ‘Safer healthcare: strategies for the real world’ Springer, Open Access (2016). Senior advisor Patient Safety for HAS (Haute Autorité de Santé) and Chief Scientific Officer of the French association La Prévention Médicale
  • Walter Ricciardi: Professor of Hygiene and Public Health at the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, Rome. Professor of Hygiene and Public Health at the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, Rome
  • Valerie James: A full-time independent consultant in developing health service leaders.  Visiting Senior Fellow, Kingston University and St George's, University of London. Will be speaking as a Patient Representative.
  • Sylvie Mantis: Independent Consultant, International Facilitator, Counselling Psychologist. With a keen interest in working on human rights issues and growth, Sylvie has concentrated on women’s issues, sexual rights issues, and youth and LGBTQ+ rights. Will be speaking as a Patient Representative.
  • Glyn Elwyn: Clinician, researcher, and innovator. He is a tenured professor at The Dartmouth Institute for Health Policy and Clinical Practice, USA, and at the Scientific Institute for Quality of Healthcare, Radboud University Nijmegen Medical Centre, The Netherlands.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update

ISQua is aware and following developments of the Coronavirus (COVID-19).

 

We are following the guidance of the WHO key planning recommendations for mass gatherings: https://www.who.int/publications-detail/key-planning-recommendations-for-mass-gatherings-in-the-context-of-the-current-covid-19-outbreak.

 

At present, the 37th Annual International Conference will go ahead as planned. We are in contact with the local and national health authorities in Italy who are keeping us regularly updated and we have already arranged for increased health and safety measures for the event.
