College Activities

Students driving to school

As you will be aware the Mentone area and in particular the surrounding schools zone is a traffic nightmare on most mornings and afternoons.  It is compulsory that any Year 12 student that drives to school is registered with the College.   As part of the registration process the student will be issued with a car park pass for the Mentone RSL car park. This will allow students to access off street parking in an already congested area.

The Mentone RSL allow our students to use the carpark as a favour.   St Bede’s College is very grateful for the strong relationship we have built with the RSL over many years.  Students that abuse this privilege run the risk of ruining this arrangement for all.

Students driving to school must comply with strict rules:

  • Students must register with Mr Jones and have permission to drive before they commence driving to and from school.
  • Students are not permitted to carry any passengers other than an immediate family member to or from school.
  • Students are not permitted to use their car during the school day.
  • Students must park in the designated area at the Mentone RSL or on the streets surrounding St Bede’s College.   Students are not permitted to drive or park on the College grounds.

We thank parents for their support in this very important matter.

Flying Start

Please be aware that the College sees the Flying Start program as an integral part of teaching and learning in preparation for the following year and key Areas of Study from the course may be covered during this time.  Students may also have to complete work over the summer break in preparation for assessment early in Term 1, the following year.  As stated in our VCE Policy and mentioned to students and parents at information sessions this year; holidays are not considered authorised absences.

It will be your son’s responsibility to ensure all materials are collected and tasks are completed. Teachers will not be required to provide the work for students in advance so it will be imperative your son organises a classmate to help him ensure he has the required work.
