Principal's  Message

Parent Teacher Interviews:

There have been three occasions when Parent Teacher Interviews have been held over the past weeks.  Can I take this opportunity to thank all parents who have availed themselves of this opportunity to speak with their son’s teachers about the progress in learning .  For most of you, hopefully it was an opportunity to gauge where your son is at in his learning journey.  It is important to remember that it is a journey and some key elements of the journey are: -

  • Remind ourselves that commitment and effort is required.
  • That students need to establish realistic goals for themselves many times in the journey.
  • Parents/guardians need to have specific expectations of their sons regarding learning and home study.
  • Expectations by parents need to be reinforced often with boys.
  • Students need to have a balance in their lives and not have too many commitments.
  • Students need to do home study four nights a week.  The degree of time depends on the year level.
  • At our different learning levels each of us has the capacity to improve.
  • We need to develop a passion for learning, read a book, study together, discuss and debate.
  • Learn to put the phone/ICT to the side and communicate verbally.
  • Use ICT for learning rather than play.

The journey for parents with your son is an important one.  We thank you for the wonderful way that many of you have engaged with your sons.  We admire your commitment and generosity. As a College we are there to walk with you on the journey.  Each of us can only do our best and hopefully most times we get it right.  In those times that we do not, we do need to support each other.
