Woolworths Earn & Learn 2015

Dear Parents,

This year we will be participating in the Woolworths Earn & Learn program. Through this program we will be able to get new educational resources for our school– and all we need you to do is shop for your groceries at Woolworths.

From Wednesday 15th July to Tuesday 8th September, we are collecting Woolworths Earn & Learn Stickers.  You will get one Woolworths Earn & Learn Sticker for every $10 spent (excluding liquor, tobacco and gift cards). Place the Woolworths Earn & Learn Sticker onto a Woolworths Earn & Learn Sticker Sheet and when it’s complete, the Sticker Sheet can be dropped into the Collection Box here at the school.

At the end of the promotion, we’ll be able to get some great new equipment. The range is extensive and offers lots of items ideal for our students – including resources for Maths, English, Science and some fantastic fun supplies for Arts & Craft, Sport and for our library. If you’d like to know more visit woolworths.com.au/earnandlearn

Docs and Teens Program

Deakin University has commenced a formal evaluation of the Docs and Teens Program with the support of funding from Women’s Health and Wellbeing Barwon South West. Whilst this program is evaluated on an annual basis by headspace Geelong this formal evaluation will look at the Docs and Teens program in its entirety.

The Docs and Teens Program is currently delivered in 25 schools across the Geelong and Colac  area and has been operating for 14 years. The program is currently coordinated by headspace Geelong and was funded under the auspice of Barwon Medicare Local (now Western Victoria Primary Health Network) as the Lead Agency for headspace Geelong.

This formal evaluation would be strengthened by the involvement of all Schools that benefit from the delivery of this program. This will provide a much richer picture of the barriers and enablers of school and local community partnerships to improve the health outcomes of young people in our region. Involvement will entail the completion by students, who participated in the program last year, of an online survey, which will take 10 – 15 minutes.

Your school will be sending home a copy of the Plain Language Statement, which will provide you with more information about the formal evaluation.

Students who participated in the Docs and Teens Program in 2014: Parents who do not wish their child to participate will be required to complete and return the research withdrawal form to the school to ensure that their child does not participate in the formal evaluation.
