Year 10 Mock Interviews
Last Wednesday, our Year 10 students were involved in a Mock Interview. This follows an assignment where students researched a live job and pretend to apply for it. They created Resumes, Cover Letters and wrote their own References.
16 experienced volunteers then took a morning to come to BHCS and put the students through their paces.
The students were fantastic and all looked the part in their formal gear.
Thanks so much to all the volunteers who were amazing, encouraging and really gave of themselves in advising our students.
Lost Property
We would like to remind parents to please check the lost property located in Reception to ensure that your child has not lost any items of clothing or lunch items/drink bottles. The lost property will be emptied at the end of the term. Any items remaining will be donated to charity.
Please remember to name all of your child’s uniform and lunch items. This will ensure that if misplaced, they can be returned to their rightful owner.
Uniforms for Term 2
A note from our Deputy Principal
As you would all be aware, the school has transitioned to the new BHCS uniform this year. While there have been some hiccups with our suppliers, Alinta, we are now in a position where all parts of the uniform will be available in the coming weeks. With this being the case, we would ask that all families who have been waiting on particular items to come in, arrange a time to order and/or pick up the outstanding items.
To aid in this process, the uniform shop will be open for an extended period of time on Tuesday, 18th April from 8am until 3pm. This is the day before students are due to return.
Please note: Black socks are no longer part of the school uniform, for either the formal or the sports uniform. All socks should be the new BHCS socks.
Attached is an update from Alinta regarding specific uniform items and their availability. If you are still unable to obtain some part of the new uniform for your child by the beginning of Term 2, could you please give your child a note to take to school explaining why this has occurred.
As of the beginning of Term 2, the Alinta Uniform Shop will resume normal hours with an additional day:
Mondays - 8am to 10am
Tuesdays - 8am to 10am
Thursdays - 2pm to 4pm
First Saturday of every month - 9am to 12pm
The next Saturday the uniform shop is open is this coming Saturday, April 1st.
Uniform Changeover
During Term 2, there will be a uniform changeover period for the first three weeks of the term. Parents are asked to use their discretion as to which uniform is the most suitable for their child to wear.
As of Monday, 8th May, all students will be expected to wear winter uniforms.
Canteen
Next term, the canteen will be changing over to their Autumn/Winter Menu.
Please find attached an updated copy.

2017 Student Residential Address Collection
The Australian Government Department of Education and Training is currently undertaking the 2017 Student Residential Address Collection. As a parent/guardian you do not need to provide any information directly to the department. The only thing you need to do is ensure your address details are up-to-date with our school. If you need to update your child’s/children’s residential address details, please advise Reception via phone (9754 6435) or email at office@bhcs.vic.edu.au .
We will provide the department with de-identified address information for all of our students’ families. This means we will provide addresses but no student names. The Statement of Addresses notice which we recently sent to you provides more information.
Frequently Asked Questions from parents:
- Why is the collection being done?
- The department is collecting student residential addresses for all non-government schools. This is part of a routine process that occurs approximately every four years, with the last collection undertaken in 2012. The collection is done in line with the Australian Bureau of Statistics Population and Housing Census. With the Census data being released later this year, it is timely for the department to update its data.
- What do I need to do?
- Nothing! You don’t need to provide any information to the department – our school will do this on behalf of all of our students’ families. However, please make sure your address details are up-to-date with our school.
- Is my personal information secure?
- Yes. The school provides the department with de-identified student residential addresses. The department will not see personal information that identifies individual families.
