Benilde

Benilde

Benilde has had a smooth but very busy start to the year. House swimming was one of the first house competition events for the year and Benilde powered through the water!  We finished second to Solomon overall by only a few points.

The Hackett Mile was held before the house athletics carnivals and we had some brilliant performances from boys across Year 10, 11 and 12.

Thanks to all the boys who stepped up and ran on the day.

House athletics was a fantastic day with our Benilde boys offering to fill events all day.  We pride ourselves on our ‘bums on seats’ policy and it certainly had positive results with the seniors finishing a respectable second.  Congratulations to Will Peake who was third in the year 11 student athlete awards.

A number of fine young men from Benilde also represented St. Bede’s in the ACC swimming carnival.  Congratulations on all your efforts and dedication to the sport over such an extended period of time.

Well done to all our students who received academic and general excellence awards at the Awards evening on the held on the 26th of February. Elijah McEvoy, Sam Valentine, Lyndon Bulman, Dillon Bulman, Rhys Bennett, Martin Buljat and Gus O’Toole. A fine group of young men dedicated to their studies as well as sporting and cultural pursuits.

Its school production time again with our St Bede’s boys presenting 12 Angry men. Congratulations to Elijah McEvoy, Patrick Bouvier and Sam Valentine on their roles in this production.

Mission Action Day, a big day in our school calendar, was held on Friday 22nd March.  Our boys participated in a liturgy then completed a walk to raise money for the Lasallian missions and our outreach programs.  This was followed by lunch and activities and wild rides which proved to be a real ‘hit with the students and staff!  I would encourage all our boys to collect donations so that we can continue our valuable work we do with our other Lasallian schools overseas.

Benilde house will make a donation directly to the Bamboo school in northern Thailand this year.  Our donation made through the Lasallian Missions, goes towards providing the young children with clothing, books, food and shelter.

I encourage all our students from Benilde house to get involved and make the most of their time here at St. Bede’s.  Let’s keep the house spirit alive!

A reminder to parents that Parent teacher interviews are coming up on the 28 March this term and 24 April at the commencement of term two.  Interview bookings can be made online, and it does provide an excellent opportunity to meet your son’s teachers and discuss their progress in each subject.

All students should now be settled in and focusing on their studies.  Work hard and make your lives extraordinary Benilde Boys!!!!
