Senior School Report

Congratulations to our Senior School students who completed their exams in the last fortnight!  For many, it was the first time they sat exams in all subject areas, requiring time management and effective revision.  As teachers begin to return exams, please take the time to read the feedback and identify what was done well and what needs to be improved upon for the next round of exams at the end of the year.

Work Experience

Our Year 10 students are on work experience this week – many thanks to Mrs Haines in Careers for her dedication and hours spent organising and supporting the students to locate placements.  I do hope that the students take the learning opportunity from these placements to help identify future careers and jobs.

Progress Interviews

Over the coming weeks, Senior School will be organising progress interviews with Year 10 and Year 11 students and their parents/guardians to reflect upon their exams and Semester 1 performance.  These interviews are not designed to be a punitive measure, but rather to reflect on what we all need to do to best assist the student to achieve success in the upcoming semester.  A thank you, in advance, to Mr Santos and Ms Wood for what I know will be a busy few weeks.

Information Nights

Early in Term 3 are the Senior School parent information nights:

  • Tuesday 30 July – Current Year 10 and Year 11 students moving into Year 11 or Year 12
  • Tuesday 6 August – Current Year 8 and Year 9 students moving into Year 9 or Year 10
  • Tuesday 13 August – Study skills seminar run by Elevate Education designed to assist parents/guardians of Senior School students to support their child

We do encourage all parents and guardians to attend these sessions.

Year 12 Valedictory Dinner

Valedictory dinner is the opportunity to celebrate the achievements of the Year 12 students throughout their schooling with their friends, family and school community.  It is a chance for students to thank those who have been crucial in developing and supporting them throughout their education.  Information has gone to the Year 12 students and I do encourage all students, their families and staff to attend and celebrate the class of 2019.

Tickets on sale from Thursday 27 June 2019 until Monday 7 October 2019. www.trybooking.com/BDDXQ

This is my last Senior School report before I go on maternity leave and embark on a very new journey.  I have genuinely enjoyed working with our current and past Senior School students and their parents/guardians, as well as a fantastic group of staff members!  I look forward to hearing about their achievements over the next semester and seeing the Year 12s at Valedictory Dinner in October.

Finally, I wish all Senior School students a restful and productive holidays – stay safe and relax!
