Term 4 Physical Education/Sport Summary
We have had a very busy term of sport! Here are some of the highlights.
We started off with the District Volleyball round robin the first Friday back. Our very talented players won at District level defeating 5 other schools, therefore qualifying to play in the Division final. They won this match as well, qualifying to play at the Eastern Region finals. Unfortunately, this day clashed with dress rehearsal for the concert. A great achievement by all players well done. I’m already looking forward to next year!
Coaches were brought in to run clinics for our students in the sports of Soccer, AFL and Tennis. These were enjoyed by all students, especially the tennis clinics which ran for 4 weeks, culminating in a 2 hour session on the courts at the Warrandyte Tennis Club.
Our 3/4 students competed at the Eastern Region Orienteering Championships held at Westerfolds Park. There were 8 schools participating and about 300 students. We were lucky to get a lovely sunny day and the students were excited and keen to test out their new skills. We had some great results on the day:
1st : Scarlett and Harriet G3Prs
1st: Owen and Jarrah B4Prs
2nd: Mitchell and Jarrah W B4Prs
2nd: Bryn and Roxane G4Prs
3rd: Marlo and Isla G3Prs
3rd: Archie G and Austin B4Prs
3rd: Baxter and Jack B3Prs
With these great results Warrandyte Primary finished 3rd overall.
Congratulations to all the students for completing their course!
Our All Star Girls Hooptime team competed at the Region finals and also at the District basketball round robin day.
We were lucky to get a wildcard entry into the State Future Stars Hooptime finals held at Dandenong. A very exciting day for these students, and a big thank you to Lee Gratton for coaching and Archie Pelosi for being an excellent Team Manager. Unfortunately our Junior Hooptime day had to be cancelled due to there not being enough referees.
I would like to say a huge thank you to all the parents who have helped during the year whether it be transporting/coaching/scoring/marshalling. Without you help these events cannot go ahead.
