Festival on the Lawn

Festival on the lawn was held on Friday 2nd December.

The general consensus of all who attended agreed that it was a huge success.

The weather was perfect and after not being able to run events like this for the last few years due to Covid it was wonderful to see so many of the community attend such a positive event.

All the classes really stepped up on the night and performed their songs really well with great skill and energy. Dance and drama students also performed to their songs really well entertaining the crowd. The art show in the hall was a big hit with amazing displays of student artwork and silent auctions. The vendors were very busy serving huge lines of people all night. Face painting and show bags also added to the lovely atmosphere on the night.

Trafalgar Primary School would like to thank the community, parents and guardians for their amazing support and attendance of the event.

Thanks also to all the students who attended and participated in the 2022 Festival on the lawn.

Parents and Friends Association 2023

Trafalgar Primary School Parents and Friends are looking forward to a fantastic 2023, but we need your help!!

Parents and Friends official membership for 2022 is only four people. Having so few members has made 2022 challenging and limiting. We have still been able to provide special lunch days, Mother’s and Father’s Day Stalls, a Colour Run and will have a stall selling show bags at Festival on the Lawn. We would like to thank everyone who volunteered their time to help and the wider school community for their support in 2022.

Parents and Friends raise money for the benefit of our school. In 2023 we have a few great ideas on our wish list including:

  • Modifying/expanding existing playgrounds to create areas that cater to all abilities.
  • Fixing the basketball court.
  • Building a shelter at the front of the school to make school pick-up easier, especially in winter!
  • Soccer goals
  • Inter school sport uniforms
  • Updating/adding murals around the school.
  • Fruit tree orchard to compliment Breakfast Club.

What do you want? What do you think we should do? Do you have other ideas?

Unfortunately we cannot do everything all at once. We have to prioritise and consider what is realistic and affordable. With only four members, there are only the views of four people around the table. We are not representative enough of our school community; we need more ideas and more perspectives. By being involved with Parents and Friends, you get to make a real difference. You get to be a part of the experiences and decisions that help shape our students’ journey through Primary School.

The Parents and Friends AGM is on Friday the 9th of December at 1:30pm in the room opposite the office. Please consider coming along and getting involved.

The support we receive from the school means it is not a demanding committee to be a part of. There is no pressure or long term commitment if you decide it is not for you.

We always welcome new people and hope to see you there!

Drama Lessons 2023

DONATIONS

Our Breakfast Club is currently seeking donations of Milo and we are in desperate need of this item. Due to the unusual cold and wet weather our students are really enjoying a Milo in the mornings. Unfortunately Milo is not provided by Foodbank and therefore we rely on the kind donations of our school community for this item.  A big thank-you to those families who have generously donated this item to us already.

Game On Recycling

The sport equipment recycling will continue until March next year, so if you have any old equipment you need to discard bring it in.

Game On Recycling is a pilot program that aims to create a national recycling scheme for sports equipment. That means rather than being thrown into landfills, tennis balls, inflates (basketballs, volleyballs, soccer balls, etc) and snow sports equipment will be recycled.

Benefits of a sustainable approach to managing sporting goods include: reduction in the size of landfills, conserving natural resources, generating employment opportunities in the recycling sector and more.

Learn more here Game On Recycling

Trafalgar High School has been listed as a collection point for used and damaged sporting goods to be recycled.

We have decided to join in by setting up a collection bin at our school for students and families to donate.  So, if you have any old sporting equipment at home, bring it along to be recycled.
