Swimming Program
Our Swimming Program will conclude tomorrow with all of the students looking forward to a slide at the end of their session. It has been great to see the students learn so much about stoke technique and water safety in such a short period of time. I would like to thank the staff at the Peter Krenz Centre for the outstanding quality of their instruction and caring nature with the children. I would also like to thank the SGPS staff and parents who assisted in making this such a smooth running program.
We have been able to secure the same venue at the end of Term 4 in 2023.
Junior Athletics
The Junior Athletic Sports will be held on Wednesday the 14th of December, 9am at the Spring Gully Cricket Oval. This will provide each student within Grades Prep, One and Two with an opportunity to participate in a range of athletic events. Students will be split into six groups and will compete in their grade level for the duration of the morning. Fun and participation are the themes of the day. Children will need to wear house colours, broad-brim hat, sun protection and suitable footwear for running. Children are asked to bring a water bottle, which can be refilled on the day.
Further information, including consent to participate will be placed on Compass shortly.
Sandhurst Division Cricket
Well done to all of the students who represented the school last Thursday at the Sandhurst Division T20 Blast Cricket Tournament. This year we entered 4 teams – a Boys and Girls team in both Division 1 and 2.
Our Division 1 Girls team had a particularly successful day coming 2nd overall. They won all of their Round Robin games to make it through to the Grand Final, in which they were defeated by Strathfieldsaye PS. Our Division 2 Boys team also had a particularly successful day, winning 3 out of 4 games and finishing 3rd overall.
The Division 1 Boys Team and the Division Girls 2 teams both won 2 of their 4 games and displayed a great deal of improvement as the day progressed. For many of these players, this was their first time playing in a competition such as this and they all had an enjoyable day. Thanks to Mr Mac, Mr Parkes and parent helpers Rick Coburn, Mick Antonowicz and Trish McCann for coaching and supporting these teams on the day.
I would like to congratulate all of the students for the sportsmanship and skill that they displayed throughout the day.
