Assistant Principal's Report

Cyber Topic of the Week: Good Habits Start Young
Parents and carers play an important role in helping children to develop digital intelligence — the social, emotional and practical skills needed to successfully navigate the digital world.
Even for preschool children, it is never too early to instil good habits, and as your child gets older it is useful to keep reminding them of these basic digital intelligence principles: respect, empathy, critical thinking, responsible behaviour and resilience. These are also principles you can emphasise with your child when things go wrong.

Interview Day 2023
Bookings for Interview Day on Monday 3oth January 2023 will be available to make via Compass in mid-January. Our system ‘rolls-over’ during this time from 2022 to 2023 students and classes. A Compass alert will be sent to all families when this rollover is completed and will include instructions for how to book a conference with your child’s/children’s 2023 teacher/s.
For our new Preps, there will also be information about how to book the 1hr conference and assessment for your child. Please keep an eye-out for the Compass alert around 20th January.
Learning Tasks + Student Report = ‘The Semester 2 Reporting Package’
Each semester, the Learning Tasks and final Student Report make up the complete ‘formal’ reporting package for families. Learning Tasks are designed to regularly provide information to families about their child’s progress, honing-in on significant moments in your child’s learning throughout the semester and aligning with our school-wide assessment schedule.
The Student Report is designed to provide a summary of your child’s learning over the whole semester and indicate their overall progress against the Victorian Curriculum.
Reports are released via Compass next Thursday 15th December.
Medicines and EpiPens
On the final day of Term 4, we request that parents collect any medicines, including asthma medications or EpiPens that are currently at school for your child/children. As mentioned in the newsletter last fortnight, Wendy will soon send home blank management plan templates for known students who suffer from asthma, allergies and/or anaphylaxis. We request that families have these plans completed and signed off by a doctor and returned at the start of the 2023 school year.
Netbooks - Grades 3 to 6
All netbooks and chargers in Grade 3-6 will be collected next Thursday to be packaged ready for return to Melbourne.
