Wellbeing

RESPECT Program

Year 7 focus = Understanding empathy and identifying character strengths and using put-ups as an act of kindness in building friendships.

Year 8 focus = Being a responsible digital citizen and creating a mini educational podcast on a social media topic.

Year 9 focus = NAIDOC theme of ‘Get Up, Stand up, Show up!’ and exploring Indigenous perspectives. Each class deigned a fundraiser and raised over $1000 for local charities that support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander causes in our local community.

Kindness and Harmony Day

We celebrated International Day of Kindness and Harmony at school with students participating in activities in class such as learning hello in different languages they didn’t know and sharing the different cultural days our families recognise during the year. At lunchtime students painted their nails orange symbolic of harmony, wrote gratitude notes to their teachers, showed kindness to our environment by picking up rubbish or took part in our cultural scavenger hunt around the school. Thank you to staff who helped support the event.

SAFE SCHOOLS

During Term 4 the Wellbeing Team has been evaluating how we currently support all our students to foster a school community that values diversity and inclusivity. We have met with student and staff focus groups to start unpacking these topics and will continue this work with families into 2023.
