Sustainability News

Hi everyone!

Gardening Fun!

We had a huge working bee thanks to our gardening club members plus some terrific 5/6 students, pulling out our last vegetables and digging over the beds. We cut up lots of vegetable matter and herbs from the garden and dug them into the soil for the worms to eat over summer break. The worms had made 40 litres of beautiful rich “worm castings” (worm poo) to help our gardens grow. Lastly, we put a thick layer of straw over each bed, to keep the soil moist and insulate the soil, so the worms can stay cool.

Things we need!

YOU! Next year we would love some parent volunteers to hello with our gardening projects. More information to come early next year.

Nude Food

5/6MG WINS Nude Food this week, with 20 rubbish free lunches. Well done!

Some yummy ideas - a sandwich/wrap/roll, pasta with vegetables, soup, frittata or sushi, a fruit or vegetable snack, such as whole fruit, cut up veggie sticks, fruit or savoury kebab or a small salad.

There is a great booklet of ideas here
