Principal's News

Dear Families,

What a year it has been and we have finally arrived at the end. This Friday we will give our Year 6s a final Guard of Honour as they leave Trinity for the last time. As I said to them all last night at their graduation, 'I hope that Trinity will always have a special place in your hearts and that you will be able to look back on your primary school days with many great memories.' I send the same message to all our children who will leave for their holidays on Friday and hope that the year has been full of learning, excitement, challenges and great memories. Thank you to all our parents and families for the very important role you play in supporting us to do the best we can for each and every child. Our year has been filled with many great achievements and celebrations, far to many to mention, but when I look back over the year it is pleasing to recall each of these and how, so often, it has brought so many members of our school community together in one way or another.

We have already begun planning for next year and working on our Annual Action Plan and hope to make family engagement more of a priority, especially in our children's learning.

Next year I will also be calling for new members for our School Advisory Council and Parents & Friends to work with me in planning for further school improvement.

Prayer: A prayer for the end of the year.

Year 6 Graduation

Last night's celebration was an amazing example of the strength of our school community. Students, staff and Parents all coming together for one reason, our children. So much preparation went into ensuring a wonderful celebration for our senior students so a huge thanks to our staff and especially our Year 6 teachers and LSOs. The evening began with a mass celebrated by Fr Trung followed by thoughful speeches from our student leaders and presentaions of two special awards to Edie and Nathan. We thank the generosity of Angela and Peter Matkovic and the John Joseph Gleeson Foundation who provide the funds for these awards.

Christmas Raffle thanks

We have been completely overwhelmed by the generosity of our families and the contributions we have received for our Christmas Raffle this year. Thank you also Ms Antonella and our parents Sophie, Belinda and Eliya for your time in putting all these items into bags as prizes for the raflle. There will be many happy children I am sure on Thursday.

Whole School Excursion

Whilst it was a difficult decision to make on Monday, when I woke up this morning and looked outside I knew we had made the right decision to cancel our planned excursion to Jells Park. Fortunately for us a few phone calls resulted in a booking at Hoyts at Victoria Gardens for our whole school to attend a special screening of Lyle Lyle Crocodile. We truly wish we had been able to include all those parents who had planned to join us for the picnic but unfortuantely due to the seating restrictions we were only able to accomodate the students and staff this time. It is not easy, or rather impossible to find a movie that noone has yet seen so this was an added plus as the movie will not be released to the public until December 28th. Lyle Lyle has a G rating so was suitable for all ages.

2023 Staff & Class Structures

Yesterday all our children met their teachers and LSOs for next year, as well as our new Deputy Principal and RE Leader Mr Ru. I hope they all came home to tell you all about it. We know that some students do find this transition to a new class and teacher challenging and so it would be great for parents to talk to their children about the importance of learning how to adapt to these changes and that there will always be somewhere here at school that they can talk to if they need any reassurance next year.  I have included here a list of all staff for 2023.

Holidays

Of course our school holidays are a chance for all of us to take a bit of a break from the normal daily routines of  our school days and I am sure there will be plenty of sleep ins and  relaxing days ahead. However, it is still very important that our children keep up their excercise and get outdoors as often as possible whilst they are on holidays. I have included HERE, a link to What's on in Melbourne during the school holidays which may help you plan for some enjoyable experiences as a family.  Another suggestion is the Big Summer Read, an initiative of Yarra Libraries.

The Big Summer Read is a wonderful way to help prevent the Summer slide in reading and to promote a family reading culture over the holidays.

Trinity Fete 2023 - Save the Date!

Our Trinity Fete Committee has been meeting regularly these past few weeks and the excitement is already building. We are looking forward to a very special whole school event and know that as we work together all those important jobs which will need to be done will get done to ensure a successful Fete next year. With almost all jobs full there remains a few that need volunteers. Please have a look at the attached form HERE and below and add your name if you are able to help. Remember no-one will be working alone and we will all be supporting each other throughout.

A Christmas Celebration at St Patrick's Cathedral:

Volunteers needed to assist as ushers?

The St Patrick's Cathedrsl Christmas concert is looking like having a great turnout and volunteers are needed at the door to sight and sell tickets. Volunteers would of course be allowed a complimentary ticket to watch the concert themselves!  If you think you might be able to help please contact Philip Matthias by email: Philip.Matthias@cam.org.au or work phone 9662 2233.

A family concert of traditional and modern Christmas favourites, featuring brass, organ and choir in the beautiful and inspiring space of St Patrick’s Cathedral.

Xavier Scholarships

Following feedback and conversation from a number of our Parish Primary Schools Xavier have reviewed the opportunities for students in Parish Catholic Schools to apply for scholarships. Accordingly Xavier will now be prioritising and preferencing students from Parish Primary Schools for scholarship and bursary consideration.

The scholarship testing day is Friday 24 February.  Applicants will need to register their interest through the College website.
