Women's Wrap Up

By Penny Senior, Women's VP

After a couple of years of disruption, it was great to be able to put plans together with hope we’d see them though for the 2022 season.

We had over 110 women hit the pitch this year and welcomed new players form near and far as well as an incredible group of juniors playing seniors hockey for the first time. From round 1 we had 7 teams fielded each week and by round 18 we had secured our grades.

Our final ladder positions as the end of the home and away season were:

PL- 10th

PLR- 8th

Pen A- 7th

Pen B- 3rd

Pen D- 1st

Pen E- 6th

Metro- 4th

We had four women’s teams play finals, PLR, Pen B, Pen D and Metro. Congratulations to all the players, a huge effort after a tough year. Special mention to the Pen D players who beat St Bedes 1-0 in a nail biting Grand Final.

I’d like to formally thank our coaching group, Ross Sudano, Mili Arrotea, Kobe Dudley, Cam Mckenzie, Sandy Marshall, Megan Boyd, Leanne Downer, Sam Hill, Tony Dudley, Bec O’Reilly and Cam MacPhie.

Thank you, your support and dedication through the year was amazing and I honestly cannot thank you all enough for getting involved.

We will be farewelling Ross Sudano this year. Ross took on the PL coaching role at the end of 2019, and it's been amazing to see the squad transform. The change in fitness, playing style, attitude and culture has been amazing and your hard work and efforts in building this have been exceptional, really setting the squad up for a future filled with success. Not only from myself but all the players, a heartfelt thank you!

It has been an absolute pleasure being involved across the Women’s section for 2022, watching everyone get back on the pitch and supporting from the sidelines, bringing to life what it means to be a TEM Lion.

Our Club Culture is so incredibly important and this year truly showed it can withstand the toughest of times.

I look forward to watching it grow.
